The Womenpreneur Pitch-a-Ton program represents a groundbreaking women-focused business support initiative introduced by Access Bank’s W Initiative. This innovative program was carefully crafted to offer female entrepreneurs across Africa a unique opportunity to access financial resources, world-class business training, and mentorship programs aimed at nurturing their business growth. This extensive five-month competition operates in collaboration with esteemed partners, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Agriculture and Finance Consultants (AFC).
Since its introduction in Ghana, this initiative has positively impacted over 100 women entrepreneurs, providing them with grants, insurance, and a valuable mini-MBA from the IFC, amounting to over 1.2 million cedis. The program continues to uphold its tradition this year, offering more women in business the chance to secure a share of the GHS 300,000.00 cash prize and avail themselves of free business advisory services.
To be eligible for participation, women must meet the following criteria:
- Reside in Ghana.
- Own and manage an agribusiness or agro-allied business.
- Possess a minimum ownership stake of 50% in the business.
- Maintain a registered and actively operational business for at least one year.
Businesses within various sub-sectors are eligible to apply, including:
- Aggregation of Agricultural Produce
- Agricultural Technology Service Provision
- Agricultural Input Supply
- Cereal/Grain Processing
- Fruit Processing
- Livestock/Poultry Rearing
- Natural Ingredients Processing
- Root & Tuber Processing
- Food Processing and Packaging
- Aquaculture & Fisheries
- Agricultural Extension & Advisory Services
- Agricultural Logistics & Transportation
- Agricultural Research & Development
- Agricultural Machinery & Equipment
- Primary Agricultural Producers
- Restaurants
- Agrochemicals: Manufacturing or Trading (e.g., fertilizer, pesticides, etc.)
The program offers the following prizes:
- 1st prize: GHS100,000
- 2nd prize: GHS100,000
- 3rd Prize: GHS100,000
- 4th prize: GHS10,000
- 5th prize: GHS10,000
- 6th prize: GHS10,000
- MD’s Special Award: GHS20,000
In addition to monetary rewards, participants can also benefit from non-financial rewards, including website design and increased publicity for their businesses.
The application process is structured as follows:
Stage 1:
- Complete the online application form, ensuring the accuracy of personal and business details.
- Provide a concise business description and attach the necessary business registration documents.
- Upload a one-minute pitch video (Concisely present your business in 60 seconds with clear audio, using either a video camera or a smartphone; video file size should not exceed 150 MB).
- Finalize your registration.
- Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for in-person visits to evaluate their businesses.
Stage 2:
- The top 50 shortlisted applicants will undergo the Business Management Bootcamp (BMB) conducted by GIZ/AFC.
Stage 3:
- Following the training, all 50 finalists will present their business pitches to a panel of judges.
