Job Description of the Protection Field Officer 1
The following are the job description of the Protection Field Officer 1

*Implementation of Protection Activities: the protection field officer will, under the direct supervision of the Protection Delegate in BIU and Protection Team leader in Mubi, contribute to the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Protection activities, with a focus on Protection of Civilian Population activities (PCP) activities.

*Oversee Safety/Protection Cases: the protection field officer will oversee cases and issues that are safety and protection related. Such cases include Sexual Violence, Healthcare in Danger, child protection, violations of the IHL.

*Project Design and Implementation: Closely supervised by the line manager, the protection officer will contribute his quota to the design and implementation of protection activities.

*Compilation of Protection Concerns: he or she will collect, compile and interpret the protection concerns alongside their humanitarian consequences for the civilian population after which written reports with updates will be prepared and duly communicated to the organisation’s database (Prot6).

*Stakeholders Mapping: the applicant for this role will contribute to the mapping of the protection of stakeholders and follow up with communities to be abreast of their activities.

*Confidential Debrief: He or she will carry out confidential debriefings with individuals who were affected by armed conflicts and also lead group discussions with affected communities.

*Network Maintenance: the protection field officer will develop and maintain adequate network with all relevant stakeholders from local communities, humanitarian organizations, authorities, religious leaders, NRCS, etc to have a good analysis of the situation and updated information relevant for the work of the organization.

*Organisational Contribution: The applicant for this opening will contributes to the organization via partaking in field missions and protection related activities. He or she will at the end of the day report field work activities and minutes of meetings to the authorized
department(s).

*Report Update: the applicant will equally be saddled with the responsibility of drafting timely reports that will be submitted both weekly and quarterly.

*Team Support: the protection field officer 1 will support the staff member of the organisation during field visits by ensuring translation and serving as a middle-man (in case of language barrier)during interactions with beneficiaries when such need arise.

*Security Analysis: the applicant is expected to lend his voice to, and contribution on the analysis of the security, socioeconomic, cultural, and political environment relevant to the organisation and shares relevant information with team members and reports any change in the situation.

*Activity Support: He or she will support other activities such as economic security, water and habitat and health department by contributing to their report system with protection insights and analysis.

*Work Sustainability: the protection field officer 1 will ensure the sustainability of their work and puts in place a system for archiving their work for the purposes of institutional memory and future reference.

Academic Qualifications, Requirements and Skills

*Applicant must possess a University degree in any of the following fields: law, public policy, international relations, political science and/or communication.

*Applicant must possess a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the humanitarian sector with a focus on Protection and Child protection or SGBV.

*Applicant must possess an impeccable fluency in both the written and spoken aspects of the English Language. A knowledge of Hausa, Fulani and other languages spoken in Nigeria will be regarded as a cutting-edge advantage.

*Applicant must possess computer literacy with knowledge in Excel, Word and Power Point and use of database.

*Applicant must possess a sound analytical skill and troubleshooting skill with a trans-cultural knowledge of the political, cultural, and geographical setting of the northeast Nigeria.

*Applicants should be a Nigerian with a valid means of identification or hold a work permit for non-Nigerians.

*Applicant must have the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.

*Applicant must possess the ability to effectively handle discretionary and confidential matters.
