Job Summary

The Procurement Specialist will play a critical role in the procurement function by ensuring that all departmental requests are efficiently processed, purchased, and delivered in a timely manner. This role will require managing local purchase orders, monitoring stock levels, conducting market surveys, and liaising with vendors to ensure the best quality and pricing for goods and services.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Local Purchase Order Management:
    • Generate and issue local purchase orders (LPOs) accurately and in a timely manner to meet operational demands.
    • Maintain a comprehensive record of all local purchase orders and associated procurement documents.
  2. Timely Order Delivery:
    • Ensure that all goods and services ordered are delivered as scheduled and meet the company’s quality requirements.
    • Follow up with vendors to expedite deliveries and resolve any delays or discrepancies.
  3. Market Research and Product Sourcing:
    • Conduct periodic market surveys to identify new products and suppliers that meet company quality standards.
    • Carry out price intelligence surveys, especially for high-demand or frequently used items, to ensure cost-efficiency.
  4. Stock Monitoring:
    • Track stock levels in the stores to ensure timely requests for replenishment of consumed items, avoiding stockouts.
    • Collaborate with store managers to forecast inventory needs and place orders accordingly.
  5. Vendor Invoice Verification:
    • Receive and thoroughly review vendor invoices to ensure accuracy before submission for payment processing.
    • Address any discrepancies in invoices and liaise with vendors and internal departments to resolve issues promptly.

Qualifications and Requirements

  1. Educational Requirements:
    • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  2. Professional Certification:
    • Membership in the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Chain Management of Nigeria is required.
  3. Experience:
    • At least 5 years of hands-on experience working in the procurement department of a reputable organization, preferably in the FMCG or manufacturing sector.
  4. Key Skills:
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
    • Proficiency in procurement and inventory management software.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in handling procurement documentation.
