POSITION TITLE: Network Administrator & Engineer

LOCATION: BUA Group Headquarters, Lagos

INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS: All functional departments
EXTERNAL ENGAGEMENTS: Technology vendors, service providers, and external IT consultants


ROLE SUMMARY

The Network Administrator & Engineer will be tasked with the planning, development, deployment, and optimization of the organization’s network systems to ensure stable, secure, and efficient connectivity across all domestic and international operations. This role is central to supporting BUA Group’s digital transformation efforts, ensuring that the enterprise network infrastructure meets performance expectations and cybersecurity standards.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust network infrastructure to support operations across BUA Group’s global locations.
  • Establish a cohesive and scalable network architecture across all subsidiaries to facilitate business continuity and collaboration.
  • Monitor network health proactively, resolve performance issues, and mitigate outages to reduce downtime.
  • Configure and administer network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Apply strict network security controls to safeguard data, prevent breaches, and ensure secure access.
  • Partner with business units to align network capabilities with organizational growth and operational goals.
  • Conduct routine evaluations of network systems to identify areas for optimization or upgrades.
  • Oversee cloud-based and hybrid networking solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure) to support evolving infrastructure needs.
  • Maintain thorough records of all network settings, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members and end-users on networking concerns.
  • Engage with vendors to source, negotiate, and procure suitable networking hardware and services.
  • Ensure all network operations comply with global standards and data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, ISO).
  • Lead projects involving network upgrades, expansions, and integration of new technologies.
  • Contribute to the organization’s business continuity strategy by supporting network-related aspects of disaster recovery planning.
  • Safeguard cross-border and corporate data through advanced cybersecurity strategies and tools.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience managing network environments, ideally within the FMCG or manufacturing sectors.
  • Professional certifications in relevant areas such as:
    • Cisco CCNA / CCNP
    • CompTIA Network+
    • CISSP
    • AWS Advanced Networking
    • Palo Alto PCNSE
  • Proficiency with diagnostic and monitoring tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, and Wireshark.
  • In-depth understanding of cloud network infrastructure and hybrid systems.
  • Experience with cybersecurity technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and SIEM tools.

  • Advanced problem-solving capabilities for identifying and resolving network-related issues.
  • Strong communication abilities to relay technical information to both IT and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to cultivate and manage relationships with stakeholders and technology partners.

  • Familiarity with productivity software and network management platforms.
  • Team leadership and mentoring skills to support junior IT personnel.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be open to international travel in support of BUA Group’s global operations.
  • Awareness of international IT compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR).
  • Ability to operate effectively in diverse cultural settings.
