Recruitment for the Oil and Gas Technical Apprenticeship Programme (OGTAP) in 2024 has commenced since October 1st. This innovative program, managed by OPITO and the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB), aims to establish a sustainable pool of skilled technicians globally. Selected apprentices will undergo a four-year apprenticeship in disciplines such as instrument and control, electrical maintenance, mechanical maintenance, and process operations. They will gain recognized qualifications and practical training while working with OGTAP sponsoring companies.
Applicants must possess a National Identity Number (NIN) and meet the following criteria:
- Age between 16 and 35 by May of the application year.
- Attainment of a credit grade C in Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, and one other subject in O’ Level exams (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or NBAIS).
- Consideration will also be given to those with qualifications in Engineering, Science, or related fields, including Diplomas, Higher National Diplomas, Bachelor’s Degrees, and Post Graduate degrees.
Successful applicants will attend a designated college for 21 months, followed by two years with an energy company as part of their training. The program offers financial support, including flight tickets, health insurance, tuition, bench fees (where applicable), and living allowances.
