One million businesses about to receive grants and loans . The federal government of Nigeria introduces two main programs called Presidential palliative grant and presidential palliative loan. Information below

The Nigerian Federal Government is excited to introduce the Presidential Conditional Grant for Nano Businesses, a vital component of the Presidential Palliative Program. Under this initiative, eligible recipients will receive a grant of N50,000.00 (Fifty Thousand Naira), with the aim of assisting one million nano businesses across the 774 local government areas.

Collaborating with State Governments, Honourable Ministers, NASME (Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises), Senators, and House of Representative Members, the Federal Government will utilize specific selection criteria to identify beneficiaries within their constituencies.

The scheme targets 70% women and youth, 10% people with disabilities, and 5% senior citizens, while the remaining 15% is allocated to other demographics.

Businesses eligible for the scheme encompass various sectors:

  1. Traders: Single retail marketers, corner shop owners, petty traders, and market men and women.
  2. Food Services: Including food and vegetable vendors.
  3. ICT: Business center operators, battery chargers, recharge card vendors, and call center agents.
  4. Transportation: Wheelbarrow pushers and independent dispatch riders.
  5. Creatives: Makeup artists, fashion designers, and dry cleaners.
  6. Artisans: Vulcanizers, shoemakers, painters, and repairers.

The Federal Government, in conjunction with other stakeholders, will employ the outlined selection criteria to shortlist beneficiaries. The timeline for the scheme includes a 6-week planning phase, 3 weeks of official communication, and 6 weeks of verification, with fund disbursement starting on 12th Dec 2023.

Additionally, the government is earmarking N75 billion for loans targeting MSMEs and manufacturers. The timeline for this initiative involves a 6-week planning phase, continuous call to entry, revolving fund disbursement from 5th Dec 2023, and repayments commencing on 5th June 2024.
