Apply for the 2025 World Trade Organization (WTO) Young Professionals Programme and receive a monthly salary of CHF4,000.

Applications/registrations are currently open for the 2025 Young Professionals Programme at the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The WTO Young Professionals Programme (YPP) is a special opportunity for qualified individuals under the age of 32, as of January 1, 2025, from WTO Members with limited or no representation in the WTO Secretariat. It aims to enrich their understanding of WTO and skills in global trade matters, ultimately diversifying their presence in the WTO and other international bodies.

This one-year program provides selected young professionals with valuable work experience at the WTO, offering a monthly salary of CHF4,000.

Key Responsibilities

The chosen Young Professional will be assigned to a specific division of the WTO Secretariat based on organizational needs and the individual’s areas of interest. Applicants can express interest in up to three areas of WTO work, specifying their preferences.

Areas of work may encompass themes such as Accessions, Agriculture, Climate Change, Communications and External Relations, Competition Policy, Council and Trade Negotiations, Digital Trade, Dispute Settlement, Economic Research and Statistics, Government Procurement, and more.

Qualifications

Education: Advanced degree in economics, law, international relations, or related fields pertinent to WTO work.
Knowledge and Skills: General understanding of WTO’s work, technical expertise in specific areas, strong drafting skills in English (French/Spanish skills advantageous).
Work Experience: Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience.
Languages: Fluent in English; proficiency in French or Spanish is beneficial.
Information

Preference is given to nationals from WTO Members with little or no representation, especially from developing and least developed countries. Female candidates are encouraged to apply.

Application Procedure

All applications, accompanied by a motivation letter specifying up to three preferred areas of work, must be submitted in English. Applications without a motivation letter will not be considered.
