2024 Undergraduate Scholarship by the Alex Otti Foundation for Nigerian Students

Numerous individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have risen to prominence or achieved significant success attribute their accomplishments to the transformative power of education. Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, the founder of the Alex Otti Foundation (AOF), exemplifies this sentiment, crediting education for his own achievements. The AOF is committed to fostering educational opportunities as a means to build a prosperous Nigerian society. Through its annual undergraduate scholarship program, the foundation aims to support financially disadvantaged students, particularly those from or residing in Abia State, in their pursuit of higher education.

Applications are now open for the 2023/2024 edition of the scholarship scheme. Successful candidates will be selected based on their academic excellence, leadership potential, and commitment to using their education to benefit society. Recipients of the scholarship are expected to apply their knowledge and skills to make positive contributions to the development of their communities and the nation as a whole. Over time, the foundation anticipates that its scholars will form a network of leaders dedicated to the advancement of Abia State and Nigeria.

The scholarship covers tuition and living expenses for students enrolled in government-owned tertiary institutions across Nigeria. Eligible applicants must be in their second year (200 Level) as of the application deadline and must have been admitted during the 2021/2022 academic session. Additionally, candidates must have attained a minimum CGPA of 3.5 or its equivalent in their first academic year. Direct entry students entering their second year are also eligible to apply.

Candidates should not have siblings currently benefiting from an Alex Otti scholarship. Other requirements include submission of academic transcripts, a letter of recognition from a community or religious leader, a recent electricity bill confirming residency in Abia State, a 1200-word essay, and valid identification.

The scholarship is open to residents of Abia State, regardless of ancestral origins. It is intended for financially disadvantaged students who genuinely require support to pursue higher education. Due to the high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
