About the Role
The Senior Vice President/Business Leader (SVP/BL) is a key leadership position, blending strategic and technical expertise to drive growth and success. This role involves full ownership of profit and loss (P&L) while managing commercial strategies, sales, distribution, and go-to-market execution. Additionally, the SVP/BL oversees the design, development, and lifecycle of innovative products tailored to market demands and customer needs.

Job Overview
As the SVP for Monnify, you will take full responsibility for the Monnify product suite and its commercial outcomes. Monnify, an API-driven online payment gateway launched in 2019, facilitates seamless payment processing and collection for businesses.

You will craft and execute strategies to deliver a world-class API gateway for small and medium-sized businesses, ensuring seamless integration with the broader Moniepoint ecosystem. Your leadership will guide the Monnify team in understanding customer needs, developing tailored solutions, and establishing the brand as a leader in Nigeria’s online payment space and beyond.

Collaboration with Moniepoint’s marketing and sales teams will be critical in promoting Monnify’s adoption and enhancing customer retention. The role is based in Lagos and involves travel as the Monnify business expands globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Vision: Design a clear and actionable roadmap to meet the needs of small and medium-sized businesses.
  • Product Strategy: Develop and oversee Monnify’s strategic direction, ensuring alignment between the product, market opportunities, sales channels, and business goals.
  • Lifecycle Management: Supervise all stages of product development, from conception to market entry, user acquisition, and continuous improvement.
  • P&L Oversight: Manage Monnify’s financial performance, ensuring all initiatives align with budgetary goals and deliver strong ROI.
  • Outcome Accountability: Ensure Monnify’s features and metrics align with Moniepoint’s strategic objectives, driving overall business success.
  • Go-to-Market Leadership: Define and execute commercial strategies to achieve revenue targets and support company-wide metrics.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a cross-functional team, fostering collaboration and efficiency across product development, engineering, and operations.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Cultivate relationships with partners, financial institutions, and stakeholders to unlock growth opportunities for Monnify.
  • Sales Involvement: Lead strategic sales discussions to onboard prominent clients.

Qualifications

  • Technical Expertise: Background in engineering, product management, or a related field with a proven ability to create exceptional B2B software.
  • P&L Management: Demonstrated experience in managing financial performance and driving measurable outcomes.
  • Market Strategy: Proven success in scaling B2B businesses through effective online and offline distribution strategies.
  • Fintech Knowledge: In-depth understanding of B2B payments and a track record of scaling businesses to significant revenue milestones.
  • Partnership Development: Expertise in building sustainable partnerships within the African financial landscape.
  • Leadership Experience: Ability to manage cross-functional teams and oversee operations from engineering to sales and finance.
  • Location Flexibility: Based in Lagos or willing to relocate.
