Scholarship Announcement: 2025 Ahmadu Bello Foundation Funding for Nigerian Students (Up to N500,000)

The Ahmadu Bello Foundation Scholarship offers financial assistance to 200 qualified undergraduates and Higher National Diploma (HND) students from Northern Nigeria who are enrolled in public universities and polytechnics across the country.
As part of its commitment to promoting education in Northern Nigeria, the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF) annually grants scholarships to 200 eligible students from the region.
Each recipient can receive between N100,000 and N500,000 for the academic year. The scholarship is renewable, subject to the student maintaining a minimum CGPA of Second Class, Lower Division for university students or Upper Credit for polytechnic students.
Application Details
Eligible students from Northern Nigeria who gained admission into 100-level programs (via JAMB), 200-level programs (via Direct Entry), or HND 1 programs in the 2020/2021 academic year are invited to apply.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Must be enrolled in science or technology programs at public universities or polytechnics.
- Must hold an admission offer for full-time degree or HND programs.
- Must meet all institutional and departmental registration requirements.
- Must have at least five credits, including English and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
- Must be a native of one of the 19 Northern states or the Federal Capital Territory (proof of origin required).
- Must not exceed 25 years of age at the time of admission.
Scholarship Benefits
Awardees will receive N100,000 per academic session, with renewal contingent on meeting the required academic performance thresholds.
Required Documents
Applicants must prepare the following documents:
- Three passport photographs (2 x 2 inches)
- State of origin/indigenization certificate
- Birth certificate from the National Population Commission
- JAMB result
- Original JAMB and institutional admission letters
- Evidence of fee payment and faculty/department registration
- Valid student ID
- WAEC/NECO results or certificates
- Semester results
- Personal contact information (including email)
- Reference letter from a community leader
- Completed parent/guardian attestation letter
- Active phone numbers
- Next-of-kin contact details (including email)
Application Process
- Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee scholarship selection, which is subject to availability and performance in the selection process.
- Falsified information will result in disqualification or scholarship withdrawal.
- Interested applicants must apply online. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
- Successful applicants will be announced in a national newspaper and on the foundation’s website.
- Students receiving scholarships from other schemes are not eligible to apply.
