Role Overview

The Senior Manager, Tower Co Management – Network, will be responsible for overseeing all operational and strategic interactions with tower providers to ensure optimal site performance, compliance with technical standards, and alignment with MTN Nigeria’s broader network expansion goals. This role is critical for maintaining the integrity of the company’s infrastructure and for facilitating efficient project execution across the network.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a precise and up-to-date database of all Tower Co sites, including technical specifications related to RF, transmission, and site configurations.
  • Monitor and validate billing information provided by tower vendors to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Track all modifications across the network, ensuring that database updates reflect approved changes, including site decommissioning or project halts.
  • Collaborate closely with multiple departments within the Network Group to facilitate seamless coordination of tower-related activities.
  • Collect and manage site order data from various Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), ensuring compliance with agreed specifications and timelines.
  • Identify and escalate issues that could delay work order (WO) issuance or the site readiness for integration (RFI).
  • Evaluate RFI forecasts and assess project risks associated with site delivery and network deployment.
  • Partner with the RF Planning, Transmission Planning, Radio Access, and Implementation teams to ensure new sites meet the planned technology requirements.
  • Review and verify Proforma Invoices (PFIs) and vendor-submitted invoices to ensure they accurately reflect completed work before initiating Purchase Request (PR) and Purchase Order (PO) processes.
  • Lead negotiations with landowners on lease agreements, ensuring favorable terms covering rent, lease duration, renewal conditions, and exit clauses.
  • Guarantee compliance with legal, environmental, and regulatory requirements related to telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Ensure alignment of site acquisitions with long-term network development plans in collaboration with the planning teams.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory.

Professional Experience:

  • A minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, with at least 7 years in project or network infrastructure management.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising cross-functional teams and managing vendor relationships.
  • Exposure to multi-vendor environments within the telecommunications industry is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a medium-sized or large organization, ideally within the telecoms sector.
