Manager – Disaster Recovery (Information Technology)
Location: Ikoyi, Lagos, South West Region, Nigeria
About the Role
MTN Nigeria is looking for an experienced Manager – Disaster Recovery to oversee and maintain the organization’s IT Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity strategies. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Governance and Service Resilience, the role focuses on ensuring seamless business operations by implementing, testing, and refining disaster recovery plans that safeguard critical IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage an IT Disaster Recovery Plan aligned with business continuity strategies.
- Collaborate with IT teams to evaluate, recommend, and implement disaster recovery solutions.
- Ensure disaster recovery processes and systems remain operational and can be restored within agreed business timeframes.
- Oversee disaster recovery drills and testing, ensuring effectiveness in real-world scenarios.
- Maintain and update DR communication protocols and command structures.
- Identify risks, conduct impact assessments, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Report DR activities and performance metrics to senior management.
- Act as the primary liaison for disaster recovery audits and compliance reviews.
- Manage relationships with key vendors to integrate business continuity requirements into IT service contracts.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certifications in Disaster Recovery or Business Continuity (e.g., Certified Disaster Recovery Manager (PECB), BCI-Business Continuity Manager, ISO 22301, ITIL v4, COBIT 2019, ISO 27001, CISSP).
Experience:
- 6–13 years of experience in Business Continuity, IT Disaster Recovery, or Risk Management.
- Proven leadership experience in overseeing IT disaster recovery initiatives.
- Hands-on experience in ITIL v4 service management, business impact analysis, and risk assessment.
- Strong knowledge of backup solutions, cloud-based disaster recovery, IT infrastructure, and cybersecurity risk management.
- Expertise in business continuity testing, live recovery drills, and incident response.
- Experience in IT operations, including infrastructure technologies like Windows, Unix, Virtual Machines, Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI), Storage Area Networks (SAN), SDN, and databases.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
