Core Functions of the Nigeria Customs Service
- Collection of revenue (Import and Excise Duties) and proper accounting for the same.
- Prevention and suppression of smuggling activities to protect the nation’s economy.
Requirements
Basic Requirements:
- Must be a Nigerian citizen by birth.
- Must possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN).
- Must have no criminal record or ongoing investigations.
Academic Requirements:
- Superintendent Cadre: University degree or HND with NYSC Discharge Certificate.
- Inspectorate Cadre: National Diploma (ND) or Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE).
- Customs Assistant Cadre: O’Level (WAEC or NECO).
Medical Requirements:
- Must be physically and mentally fit.
- Evidence of medical fitness from a recognized government hospital.
