Job Summary

The Procurement Manager will oversee all procurement operations, ensuring the timely acquisition of materials necessary for optimal business operations. The role demands a strategic thinker with the ability to negotiate effectively, manage vendor relationships, reduce procurement costs, and ensure compliance with company policies and budget constraints. Reporting directly to the Head of Supply Chain, this position plays a pivotal role in enhancing Dangote’s operational productivity and efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Procurement Coordination:
    • Manage all procurement unit activities and provide daily reports to the Head of Supply Chain for informed decision-making.
    • Develop procurement strategies that align with overall organizational objectives.
  2. Vendor Relationship Management:
    • Maintain up-to-date vendor data sheets on a quarterly basis to ensure supplier credibility and performance monitoring.
    • Foster and sustain strong relationships with vendors to negotiate better pricing and secure high-quality materials.
  3. Approval Process Management:
    • Ensure that all purchase requests (PRs) are approved by the Chief General Manager (C/GGM) and submitted before the close of business each day.
  4. Competitive Bidding Process:
    • Obtain a minimum of three competitive quotes for all PRs to ensure procurement remains cost-effective and within budget.
  5. Purchase Request Accuracy:
    • Oversee the accurate generation of all PRs, ensuring zero errors and appropriate approval from Heads of Departments (HODs).
  6. Weekly Procurement Meetings:
    • Conduct regular weekly meetings to review procurement activities, identify areas for improvement, and delegate tasks to team members.
  7. Purchase Order Processing:
    • Convert all approved PRs into Purchase Orders (POs) within 48 hours to ensure timely order placements and material availability.

Qualifications

  1. Educational Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
    • An MBA is highly desirable and will be considered an added advantage.
  2. Professional Certification:
    • Membership in the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Chain Management of Nigeria is mandatory for this role.
  3. Experience:
    • At least 10 years of managerial experience in procurement, preferably within the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) or manufacturing sectors.
