Job Summary
Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc. is looking for a strategic and experienced Head of Procurement to lead and optimize our procurement function. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing procurement strategies that align with the company’s goals, ensuring cost-efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement in procurement processes. This role involves leading a team of procurement professionals and fostering strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement Strategy Development:
- Design and implement procurement strategies to meet business objectives, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency.
- Team Leadership and Management:
- Oversee the procurement team, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities to drive team performance.
- Procurement Operations Oversight:
- Manage all procurement activities in adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Supplier Relationship Management:
- Develop strategic relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality goods and services at competitive rates.
- Contract Negotiation and Management:
- Negotiate and manage supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with both regulatory and business standards.
- Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks while ensuring regulatory and internal compliance.
- Budget and Cost Control:
- Develop and manage procurement budgets, minimizing costs while meeting business needs.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal departments, suppliers, and external partners to align procurement activities with stakeholder expectations.
- System and Process Improvement:
- Implement efficient procurement systems and processes to enhance operational performance and regulatory compliance.
- Reporting and Analytics:
- Prepare and present procurement performance reports, ensuring transparency, accountability, and data-driven decision-making.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CIPS, ISM, or APICS are highly desirable.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 15 years of procurement experience, with at least 8 years in a leadership capacity.
- International procurement experience is essential.
- Core Skills:
- In-depth understanding of procurement principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
