Overall Purpose:
The role of the Biology Teacher is to foster a love of learning by engaging students with biology concepts and promoting analytical and critical thinking. The teacher will help students develop their writing, reading, and presentation skills in alignment with WASSCE and NECO curriculum standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Management:
- Breaking down and organizing the scheme of work into structured, deliverable lessons (Daily).
- Lesson Planning:
- Preparing comprehensive lesson plans and notes that align with curriculum goals (Weekly).
- Classroom Teaching:
- Conducting engaging and interactive biology lessons to enhance learning (Daily).
- Reading Sessions:
- Facilitating reading sessions to build comprehension and verbal communication (Daily).
- Assignments and Homework:
- Assigning tasks and marking assignments promptly to assess student understanding (Daily).
- Continuous Assessments:
- Conducting and marking regular assessment tests to track student progress (Monthly).
- Examinations:
- Preparing, administering, and grading examinations according to academic guidelines (Periodic).
- Result Compilation:
- Compiling and recording student scores to maintain accurate academic records (Periodic).
Performance Metrics:
- Instructional Material Utilization:
- Using educational aids and resources for every lesson to enhance understanding (20%).
- Attendance and Punctuality:
- Maintaining daily punctuality to set a standard for students (30%).
- Student Notebook Inspections:
- Conducting regular inspections and markings of notebooks to encourage consistency (10%).
- Student Evaluations:
- Organizing tests, assignments, and extra lessons as necessary to bridge learning gaps (20%).
