POSITION TITLE: IT Support Lead
SECTOR: Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) – Manufacturing
REPORTING LINE: Reports to the IT Manager
LOCATION: BUA Group Headquarters, Lagos

INTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS: IT Department, Operations, Production, Sales, Finance, and Human Resources
EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS: Technology Vendors, Service Providers, Cybersecurity Consultants, and Hardware/Software Suppliers


ROLE OVERVIEW

The IT Support Lead will serve as a critical link in ensuring the efficiency, stability, and security of the organization’s technology infrastructure. The individual in this role will manage the day-to-day IT support services across the enterprise, delivering high-quality technical assistance, resolving system issues, and maintaining hardware and software assets. This role is integral to ensuring that employees have seamless access to the technology resources they need to function effectively while aligning IT operations with the company’s broader business goals. The IT Support Lead will also take the lead on IT infrastructure maintenance, policy implementation, system performance enhancement, and digital risk mitigation.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and coordinate daily IT support activities across departments, ensuring prompt and effective resolution of hardware, software, and network-related problems.
  • Manage and oversee the company’s IT helpdesk system to ensure timely responses to user inquiries, incidents, and requests, aiming to minimize technical downtime.
  • Maintain and continuously optimize the organization’s IT infrastructure, which includes enterprise servers, network systems, data storage, and critical business applications.
  • Design and implement cybersecurity protocols to secure corporate data and IT systems, ensuring adherence to international and local data protection laws such as GDPR and NDPR.
  • Liaise with external technology partners, including equipment suppliers, software vendors, and managed service providers, to facilitate procurement, installation, and upgrades of IT assets.
  • Formulate and enforce internal IT policies and standard operating procedures that promote best practices in information security, user access control, and operational efficiency.
  • Track system performance using diagnostic tools and monitoring systems; ensure IT asset management practices are in place to support optimal lifecycle usage.
  • Offer training sessions and documentation for employees to enhance their understanding and effective use of IT tools, applications, and security protocols.
  • Develop and deploy automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python) to streamline routine IT tasks such as backups, user provisioning, and report generation.
  • Conduct periodic IT audits, assess operational risks, and implement corrective action plans to address system vulnerabilities.
  • Keep abreast of technological trends, especially in cloud computing, automation, and information security, and recommend innovations to drive IT transformation and performance improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, or a related discipline.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or IT operations, with a strong background in managing web platforms and digital automation.
  • Solid hands-on knowledge of web development tools and technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and Python.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with content management systems (CMS) including WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal.
  • Practical experience with process automation tools like Zapier, UiPath, or Selenium is required.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and website performance tools such as Google Analytics and Hotjar, alongside knowledge of SEO fundamentals.
  • Experience with cloud service providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure, and basic understanding of version control systems like Git.
  • Possession of relevant certifications such as Google Analytics, AWS Developer Certification, or CompTIA credentials is considered an added advantage.

  • Strong analytical thinking and a solution-oriented mindset for resolving complex technical issues efficiently.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols, cyber risk management, and cloud-based system architecture.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially when supporting users with limited technical knowledge.
  • Capable of leading IT-related projects, system upgrades, and new technology implementations across departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and project management platforms such as Jira, Trello, or Asana.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities under pressure.
