Fully Funded study opportunity in Canada with the University of British Columbia Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program for the academic year 2024/2025.

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UBC spans a decade, welcoming a total of 171 Mastercard Foundation Scholars, encompassing both undergraduate and master’s students.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Masters’ Degree Program at UBC, applicants must:

Hold a completed Bachelor’s degree.
Not possess a graduate or PhD degree.
Be 35 years old or younger at the time of application.
Be a citizen or refugee of a Sub-Saharan African country.
Have resided significantly in a Sub-Saharan African country.
Exhibit economically disadvantaged financial circumstances.
Attain academic excellence despite challenging circumstances.
Demonstrate leadership qualities or potential.
Express an interest in and commitment to giving back to their home community.
Require a Canadian study permit for studying in Canada.
Not have claimed or plan to claim asylum or protected person status upon arrival in Canada.
Pledge to return to Africa to apply acquired training and skills for community betterment.
Application Process:

Step One: Assess Your Eligibility

Identify your Program(s) of Interest from the provided list.
Refer to the Minimum Academic Requirements/International Credentials for Graduate Students, categorized by country, to determine academic eligibility.
Verify background experience on the program website.
Step Two: Additional Tests

If your Bachelor’s degree was not taught in English, arrange to take an English Proficiency Exam (TOEFL or IELTS).
Step Three: MCFSP Application Package

Complete the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Application by December 1, 2023.
Electronically submit the package as a single PDF document via email to mcfsp.admissions@ubc.ca.
Step Four: UBC Faculty Applications

In February 2024, faculties will nominate candidates for admission for the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship.

ON UNIVERSITY OF COLUMBIA SCHOLARSHIP
A university-wide selection committee will review applications, rank them, and select award recipients.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a video interview in April 2024.
