This initiative, “Forecasting the Future: A Modern Economics Challenge,” invites participants to delve into the evolving dynamics of the global economy. The core objective is to anticipate how the upcoming era of Modern Mercantilism will reshape international trade, policy frameworks, and the distribution of global power. A central inquiry for participants will be to identify the winners, losers, and the underlying reasons for these outcomes in this emerging economic landscape.
The Challenge’s Core Focus
The “Forecasting the Future” Challenge, a collaborative effort by Bridgewater and Global Citizen, immerses participants in a complex global scenario. It specifically highlights Modern Mercantilism, a contemporary economic approach where governments actively intervene to strengthen national economic power, mitigate trade imbalances, and stimulate domestic industrial growth.
Opportunity and Rewards
Participants are encouraged to submit their insightful analyses for a chance to secure a $25,000 award and potentially an employment or internship opportunity at Bridgewater, contingent upon successfully navigating their interview process.
Bridgewater, a renowned organization, meticulously investigates the causal relationships that influence economies and financial markets. This understanding is then translated into data-driven algorithms that dynamically adjust to global shifts. Their ultimate aim is to construct a system capable of both deciphering the global economy and guiding astute investment decisions. This involves balancing overarching trends, such as debt cycles, with precise predictions like fluctuations in interest rates.
