The Role
We are looking for an exceptional Senior Associate, Settlements to join our Global Operations team. This critical position will ensure accurate and timely processing of settlements and efficient handling of chargeback disputes. The ideal candidate will play a significant role in maintaining operational excellence and supporting key processes related to transactions and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
Merchant Settlements
- Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation and settlement processes for merchants.
- Verify and approve transaction details, ensuring they align with internal policies and standards.
- Manage multiple merchant accounts and transactions with precision on a daily basis.
Chargeback Management
- Stay updated on chargeback regulations and processes across various payment networks and regions.
- Investigate and resolve chargeback disputes promptly while adhering to relevant guidelines to maximize successful outcomes.
- Develop strategies to minimize chargeback occurrences and fraud risks by monitoring transactions and identifying anomalies.
Stakeholder Communication
- Act as the primary liaison for internal teams, including customer support, sales, and product teams, to address settlement inquiries.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders such as banks, payment networks, and regulatory bodies to resolve settlement issues and maintain compliance.
Risk Management and Compliance
- Implement robust risk controls and operational procedures to reduce fraud and meet regulatory standards.
- Maintain detailed reports on fraud incidents and related data analyses.
Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare and present regular reports on settlement performance metrics, chargeback trends, and refund statistics to support decision-making.
- Analyze transaction data to identify patterns, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process enhancement.
- Provide detailed insights into fraudulent versus service-related chargebacks and suggest actionable improvements.
Process Improvement
- Lead initiatives to optimize settlement and chargeback workflows, driving efficiency and resource allocation.
- Identify and implement automation and technological enhancements to improve operational performance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline (advanced degrees are a plus).
- At least 5 years of experience in settlements and chargeback management within the payments industry.
- Expertise in payment processing systems, settlement operations, and chargeback regulations.
- Strong analytical capabilities to interpret complex data and deliver actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide teams towards achieving exceptional outcomes.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with a commitment to accuracy and efficiency.
- Proficiency in relevant tools, including payment platforms, CRM systems, and advanced Excel for data handling and reporting.
- Experience in client engagement and project management.
- A collaborative team player who can manage multiple priorities effectively.
