About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Consumer Risk to lead and oversee the buyer risk function within our organization. This pivotal role involves crafting and executing effective risk management strategies, collaborating across departments, and ensuring the security of buyer transactions.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Analyzing extensive datasets to detect patterns, anomalies, and potential risks.
- Gaining a deep understanding of Flutterwave’s technical products to proactively identify and address risk exposures affecting customers or the business.
- Balancing risk mitigation measures with user experience to promote sustainable business growth.
- Developing and implementing robust risk management strategies to prevent financial and operational losses.
- Establishing and maintaining risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Partnering with teams across finance, legal, and technology to integrate risk management into business operations.
- Guiding and mentoring team members in executing risk mitigation plans effectively.
- Enhancing transaction monitoring systems to detect and prevent fraud.
- Staying updated on market trends, regulatory developments, and industry practices to anticipate and address emerging risks.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field (advanced degrees or certifications are an advantage).
- Over 8 years of experience in consumer risk, fraud prevention, or related areas within the financial or fintech sectors, with demonstrated leadership and strategic expertise.
- A proven ability to derive actionable insights from large datasets using a data-driven approach.
- A track record of successfully identifying and mitigating various fraud schemes within payments or financial services.
- Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across all organizational levels.
- A strong business acumen paired with a risk-focused mindset.
- The ability to simplify complex risk concepts for non-specialist audiences.
- Outstanding organizational and detail-oriented skills, ensuring accuracy and quality in all tasks.
- Experience in designing and delivering training programs for operational teams to equip them with buyer risk management skills.
