The Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced Associate/Senior Associate in Risk Modeling & Decisioning to join our innovative team. As a leading fintech company, Flutterwave is committed to transforming financial services through cutting-edge technology and data-driven solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, refine, and maintain risk, compliance, and fraud prevention frameworks for multiple products and channels using analytical methods.
- Support data-related initiatives within the Risk & Compliance team by ensuring data is robust, complete, accurate, and consistent for analysis and reporting purposes.
- Identify and leverage both internal and external data sources to enhance risk and fraud management processes.
- Drive automation and efficiency in risk management processes, utilizing advanced analytics and machine learning where applicable.
- Contribute to predictive analytics projects by providing expert guidance or direct involvement in model creation.
- Collaborate with teams including Data Science, Product Management, and Engineering to integrate data-driven decisioning strategies into production systems.
- Analyze data to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that inform risk management strategies.
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and regulatory updates in risk management.
- Mentor and guide risk analysts to foster a collaborative, innovative, and growth-oriented work environment.
- Work closely with stakeholders to align risk management strategies with broader business goals while maintaining growth objectives.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy policies and global standards when handling customer, employee, and partner data.
- Support regulatory compliance efforts by ensuring that risk analytics and decisioning processes meet applicable standards and guidelines.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics); advanced degrees are an advantage.
- 2–6 years of experience in risk analytics, fraud prevention, rule development, or data management within the financial services sector.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python, SQL, and other statistical and data mining tools.
- Familiarity with risk and fraud management frameworks, methodologies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR).
- Experience in building predictive models and utilizing analytics tools (e.g., logistic regression, decision trees, neural networks, gradient boosting).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to transform complex data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical ideas to non-technical audiences and leadership teams.
- Proven project management skills to handle multiple initiatives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- A collaborative mindset with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
