Job Position: Legal Officer, Corporate Transactional Support Location: Lagos

Responsibilities

  1. Provide legal advisory services, guided by the Team Lead, for various contracts involving SBUs, SRFs, and the Bank’s subsidiaries, covering structured finance, project finance, international trade, oil & gas financing, derivatives, and telecommunications financing.
  2. Research and prepare legal opinions on day-to-day issues related to the Unit’s activities.
  3. Attend meetings with SBUs and other SRFs to negotiate terms and conditions for commercial transactions on behalf of the Bank.
  4. Prepare drafts of local and cross-border Bonds and Guarantees, ensuring the Bank’s interests are protected, and assist in drafting and reviewing Bonds and Guarantees under the guidance of the Team Lead and Guarantee Supervisors.
  5. Support the Team Lead in implementing various product and service offerings, alliances, partnerships, and other synergistic relationships created by the Products & Channels Unit.
  6. Prepare, review, and vet various documentation, including but not limited to letter of domiciliation, indemnities, irrevocable remittance undertakings, standard payment orders, letters of comfort, letters of support, and letters of intent.
  7. Draft Loan Agreements, Corporate Guarantees, Sales & Collection Agreements, Letters of Hypothecation, Equipment Leases, Deeds of Release, etc.
  8. Conduct and analyze searches on Certificates of Registration/Incorporation of corporate entities.
  9. Support the Team Lead and Unit Head in providing general advisory services to the Bank’s subsidiaries.
  10. Ensure compliance with information security and business continuity management principles and policies.

Requirements

Education:

  • First Degree in Law
  • Professional Certificate of Barrister At Law (compulsory)

Experience:

  • Two years post-call legal practice in chambers
