Job Title: Portfolio Manager

Role Overview:

The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of financial transactions and portfolio activities on behalf of high-net-worth clients within the Private Banking division. This position requires a high degree of professionalism, deep financial expertise, and the ability to interface with internal units and external partners to deliver seamless wealth management services.


Key Responsibilities:

Transactional Duties:

  • Process financial instructions and portfolio-related transactions for Private Banking clients by coordinating with internal units and subsidiaries within the FirstBank Group.
  • Manage client engagements involving asset acquisition, credit arrangements, offshore investments, trust services, and real estate financing in line with directives from senior leadership.
  • Draft, review, and ensure the accuracy of all wealth management proposals and documentation before presenting them to clients.
  • Oversee the preparation and signing of investment confirmations and certificates for private clients, ensuring regulatory compliance and precision.

Operational Functions:

  • Conduct ongoing research and analysis on investment opportunities, wealth management products, and market trends in collaboration with FBNQuest and other research entities.
  • Keep the Private Banking team informed about new product offerings, capital market trends, and client portfolio strategies.
  • Monitor client product usage monthly to contribute to the Asset Holding Report for Private Banking operations.
  • Design personalized investment portfolios in collaboration with Relationship Managers by analyzing client data and leveraging expertise from FirstBank subsidiaries.
  • Prepare and issue investment mandates on behalf of clients for transactions with FBN Capital and related entities.
  • Generate client portfolio reports, investment summaries, and other documentation needed to track performance and comply with reporting standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of client positions globally to support comprehensive wealth tracking and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure efficient execution of all client mandates and timely processing of investment instructions.

Client Portfolio Monitoring:

  • Regularly verify customer trades through the online portal and keep client portfolios updated.
  • Oversee the management of loans booked on behalf of clients and ensure updates to their global financial position.
  • Monitor account activity to ensure client portfolios are funded and active, aligning with wealth management goals.

Relationship Management:

  • Foster productive relationships with internal departments, financial product teams, and subsidiaries like FBN Mortgages, FBN Trustees, and FBN Capital.
  • Liaise with regulators, compliance teams, and research institutions to maintain up-to-date knowledge of market and regulatory changes.
  • Ensure collaborative engagement to streamline transactions and enhance service delivery.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the handling and secure documentation of clients’ safe custody items.
  • Ensure proper certification, release, and tracking of pledged securities.
  • Maintain high standards of efficiency in executing investment transactions.
  • Escalate complex or unusual cases to the Head of Portfolio Management for guidance.
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the Head of Private Banking or the Group Head of Private Banking.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or any other related field.
  • Advanced qualifications such as an MBA or Master’s in Finance will be a strong advantage.
  • Professional certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Accountant (ICAN/ACCA), or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) are highly desirable.
  • 8 to 10 years of relevant experience, ideally with a background in middle-office functions within financial institutions or wealth management services.
