FG Launches RHGEEP 3.0 to Empower 5 Million Nigerians by 2027
The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially launched the Renewed Hope Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (RHGEEP 3.0), a new phase of the popular GEEP loan scheme. The programme is designed to empower five million Nigerians by 2027 through interest-free micro-credit, financial inclusion, and youth empowerment.
What RHGEEP 3.0 Means for Nigerians
Announcing the scheme in Abuja, the National Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), Badamasi Lawal, explained that RHGEEP 3.0 is not just a continuation but a recalibration of the GEEP loan programme. It will focus on women, youths, and small business owners who are excluded from the formal financial system.
The programme introduces new initiatives such as:
- Circular Economy Youth Empowerment Initiative (CEYEI) – creating green jobs and promoting sustainability.
- Labour, Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP) – driving skill development, job creation, and entrepreneurship.
Key Focus of RHGEEP 3.0
RHGEEP 3.0 is built on four strong pillars: trust, consistency, accountability, and bridging financial gaps. According to Lawal, the scheme will:
- Expand financial inclusion through fintech partnerships.
- Promote transparency and accountability in loan distribution.
- Strengthen repayment culture among beneficiaries.
- Increase collaboration with state and local governments.
GEEP Loan History in Nigeria
Since inception, the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) has supported millions of Nigerians with micro-credit loans under TraderMoni, MarketMoni, and FarmerMoni. These schemes have helped small traders, farmers, and artisans to grow their businesses and access working capital.
With RHGEEP 3.0, the Federal Government aims to scale up these successes by targeting millions at the base of the economic pyramid, driving job creation, and boosting entrepreneurship across the country.
Why RHGEEP 3.0 Matters
By combining financial empowerment, digital inclusion, and skills training, the new scheme is expected to transform micro-enterprises, empower youths, and strengthen the Nigerian economy
