NSIPA to Roll Out Major Social Programs Targeting 1.8 Million Nigerians

By Kehinde Akintola

The National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) is preparing to implement a broad range of social intervention initiatives aimed at improving the lives of approximately 1.8 million Nigerians. These initiatives include the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), N-Power, the Grant for Vulnerable Groups (GVG), and the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP).

This development was announced in a statement by Attari Hope, Head of Communication and Public Relations at NSIPA, during a management workshop held in Abuja. The workshop, themed “Policy Development for Social Investment Programme Agency: Programme Implementation and Structure,” marked a strategic moment for the agency as it builds momentum for widespread program rollout.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Abdulazeez Badamasi Lawal, NSIPA’s National Coordinator and CEO, emphasized that the initiative comes after the successful disbursement of funds to 1.8 million beneficiaries through the National Social Safety Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO) and the National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO).

Dr. Badamasi highlighted the importance of aligning NSIPA’s efforts with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for reducing poverty and fostering inclusive national development. According to him, the agency is committed to designing and executing policies that address the deep-rooted issues of poverty, social vulnerability, and inequality across the country.

“We are at a critical juncture,” he said, “where we must harness the renewed energy under President Tinubu’s leadership to bring meaningful change to millions of Nigerians.”

He further stressed that for the programs to succeed and endure, there must be strong institutional frameworks, active community engagement, strategic implementation approaches, and robust collaboration across sectors.

Dr. Badamasi expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for entrusting him with the responsibility and assured Nigerians that he, alongside the NSIPA team, is determined to actualize the goals of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Our mission is to foster collaboration, refine our operational models, and ensure we deliver measurable results that impact lives positively and sustainably,” he concluded.

The management workshop, hosted in partnership with NEETSGE Nigeria Ltd., provided in-depth discussions on several critical areas, including an overview of social investment programs, the provisions of the NSIPA Act of 2023, responsibilities of program managers, administrative guidelines for program execution, inter-program coordination, and the development and implementation of effective social policies.
