Position Overview

Dangote Cement Plc is currently seeking an experienced and results-oriented professional to serve as the Deputy General Manager (DGM) of Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM) within its Mines Division. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient, safe, and effective operation of HEMM assets to support both the immediate and long-term goals of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement comprehensive systems for managing HEMM operations across Dangote Cement facilities.
  • Establish performance metrics to evaluate HEMM efficiency and identify areas for improvement in productivity and utilization.
  • Oversee the training, certification, and competence evaluation of HEMM operators to promote safe and proficient equipment handling.
  • Supervise the maintenance schedules and repair processes to reduce machinery downtime and enhance overall equipment performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, servicing, and repairs through detailed documentation and reporting systems.
  • Ensure timely procurement and availability of necessary HEMM equipment and spare parts to prevent operational delays.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, coordinate, and execute various mining and industrial projects.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 15 to 21 years of relevant experience in managing heavy earth-moving equipment, preferably in a mining, construction, or large-scale industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of HEMM technologies and best practices for operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Well-versed in health and safety standards, particularly those relevant to heavy equipment operations.
  • Proven experience in project planning and management within an industrial setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Prior exposure to the cement manufacturing industry will be considered an added advantage.
