The Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) in collaboration with leading international development partners. Its primary mission is to tackle the critical financial challenges faced by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the country. DBN aims to ease the financial constraints of MSMEs and small businesses by providing funding solutions and partial credit guarantees to qualified financial intermediaries. These efforts are carried out in a manner that aligns with market principles and ensures long-term financial sustainability.

We are currently seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team in the position below:

Job Title: Corporate Communications & Branding Officer

Location: Abuja
Department: Corporate Services

Job Objective & Summary

The Corporate Communications & Branding Officer will play a key role in supporting both internal and external communications within the Corporate Communications & Branding Unit. The selected candidate will assist in strengthening the bank’s public image, enhancing brand perception, and ensuring effective communication across various platforms.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assist in the development and execution of public awareness initiatives, brand perception campaigns, employee engagement strategies, and special projects.
  • Collaborate with the media relations team to draft responses to press inquiries, including preparing press releases and official statements.
  • Support the digital team by managing content for social media platforms, website updates, and intranet communications.
  • Plan and coordinate key events, including press briefings, corporate engagements, and public relations initiatives.
  • Monitor and respond to communications requests received via the department’s central inbox and phone lines, ensuring timely and appropriate resolutions.
  • Track and manage day-to-day communication tasks, including recording action items, following up on updates, and ensuring swift responses to stakeholder inquiries.
  • Assist in research, data collection, and analysis related to audience insights and communication effectiveness. This includes supporting primary research efforts such as surveys, focus groups, and interviews to refine communication strategies.
  • Manage the organization’s social media presence by ensuring consistent, positive messaging and tracking engagement metrics to enhance online communication.
  • Work closely with digital marketing teams to optimize online content, ensuring alignment with the bank’s corporate brand.
  • Develop and distribute internal communication materials such as newsletters, memos, and reports to keep employees informed and engaged.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and other departments to implement a unified communication strategy across the organization.

  • Consistency and effectiveness in internal and external communication efforts.
  • Full and efficient utilization of the Bank’s digital and ICT platforms.
  • Adherence to brand compliance policies and guidelines.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building within the organization.
  • Increased social media engagement, including growth in followers, shares, and interactions.
  • Improved website traffic driven by communication campaigns and media initiatives.
  • Effective performance tracking of content types (e.g., blog posts, videos, and social media updates) to optimize engagement.
  • Proven ability to contribute innovative ideas for digital campaigns and brand awareness strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with the media and handling press engagements effectively.

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Background:

  • A minimum of a First Degree in Social Sciences, Management Sciences, or a related field.

Professional Certifications:

  • Possession of relevant professional certifications in communications, branding, public relations, or digital marketing will be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience in a financial institution, bank, or corporate communication role.
