Title: Consultancy Opportunity for Comprehensive Humanitarian Needs Assessment in Nigeria

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) invites qualified consultants to conduct a comprehensive humanitarian needs assessment in Nigeria.

Organizational Context:
IFRC, the world’s largest humanitarian organization, operates internationally under a treaty with the Government of Switzerland. Recognized by over 90 countries, including Nigeria, IFRC coordinates with 192 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies globally. IFRC’s extensive network, supported by 16.5 million volunteers, aids communities worldwide in various humanitarian sectors.

Job Purpose:
To address severe humanitarian needs in Nigeria, IFRC seeks a consultant to conduct a national needs assessment. Focal states include those in the Northeast, Northwest, Northcentral, Southeast, Southwest, and Southsouth geopolitical zones.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Desk Review: Thoroughly examine existing secondary data on humanitarian needs in Nigeria.
Field Data Collection: Collaborate with NRCS and conduct FGDs, KIIs, and surveys in focal states.
Data Analysis: Analyze collected data to identify trends, needs, and gaps.
Reporting: Present comprehensive findings, methodology, and recommendations in a detailed report.
Dissemination: Share assessment results with IFRC staff and stakeholders.
Education:
Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., humanitarian studies, public health, social sciences, development studies).

Experience:
Minimum 15 years of experience in humanitarian needs assessments, strong research and analytical skills, Nigeria familiarity, and excellent communication skills.

Languages:
Fluency in English and relevant local languages.

Deliverables:

Inception Report: Methodology and work plan.
Draft Report: Preliminary findings for feedback.
Final Report: Comprehensive summary and recommendations.
PowerPoint Presentation: Key findings and recommendations.
Timeline and Budget:
Consultancy spans 60 days over 3 months, starting on 1st June 2024.

Selection Criteria:
Interested consultants to submit proposals with CVs, experience, budget, and methodology. Only shortlisted candidates will be interviewed.

Additional Information:
Preliminary Terms of Reference subject to change based on discussions. Adherence to ethical guidelines for humanitarian research is mandatory. IFRC reserves the right to reject proposals.
