Role Overview

The Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS) unit is a globally recognized leader in cash management, trade solutions, and corporate financial services. With operations in over 100 countries, we provide tailored solutions to financial institutions, government entities, and corporate clients, enabling them to manage cash flow, optimize working capital, and streamline financial processes.

TTS is an innovation-driven unit, consistently developing new digital solutions to align with the evolving treasury needs of our clients. Our role is to equip businesses with cutting-edge tools, data insights, and APIs to enhance financial management, working capital efficiency, and supply chain optimization.

As the Trade & Working Capital Client Solutions Lead for Nigeria, your primary responsibility will be to drive trade finance growth within a portfolio of Nigerian-based conglomerates and government-affiliated entities. This role involves direct sales of a variety of trade finance products (including standard, structured, and commodity-based trade solutions) while also enhancing broader sales strategies to support clients within Nigeria and their operations across other markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Banking, Regional, and Global Trade teams, along with Relationship Managers, to create a cohesive strategy for trade finance solutions.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to increase trade solution adoption among key clients.
  • Foster strong client relationships by serving as a trusted advisor, identifying trade finance needs, and delivering tailored financial solutions.
  • Provide thought leadership by conceptualizing innovative trade finance solutions that address client pain points.
  • Build and leverage an extensive internal network to bring Citi’s full range of financial services to clients.
  • Stay informed about market trends and client ecosystem developments to refine trade finance discussions and solutions.
  • Meet and exceed trade finance revenue targets through strategic execution and new business acquisition.
  • Ensure efficient management of Risk-Weighted Assets (RWA) and Return on Tangible Common Equity (ROTCE) at both the client and transaction levels.

Development & Growth Opportunities

  • Gain comprehensive exposure to trade finance solutions and their applications across various industries.
  • Develop expertise in credit analysis and risk assessment within trade finance structures.
  • The experience gained in this role can serve as a stepping stone to higher positions in product management or sales within Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS).

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Extensive experience in negotiation, persuasion, and external communication.
  • Proven track record in business development, including pipeline management and client acquisition.
  • Strong understanding of credit structures and trade finance instruments, including Commodity Financing, Accounts Receivable Financing, and Export Credit Agency-backed transactions.
  • Expertise in structuring trade deals, covering both Open Account and Documentary Trade solutions.
  • Experience managing global teams to execute trade finance transactions.
  • Ability to design and implement marketing strategies to promote the bank’s trade finance products.
  • Strong legal knowledge related to trade finance instruments and market practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 years of post-graduation experience, with at least 10 years in the banking sector and 2 years at the Assistant General Manager level or higher.
  • Hands-on experience in at least three major areas of banking operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of banking regulations and operational best practices.
  • Fluency in English is required.
