Asset Manager – Oil & Gas Sector

Job Overview

The Asset Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing the value of the company’s oil and gas assets. This position involves managing the entire lifecycle of exploration and production assets, ensuring their operational efficiency, and maximizing investment returns. The successful candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives, optimize asset performance, and align operations with corporate objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Asset Manager will include, but are not limited to:

  • Asset Oversight & Performance Management: Ensure the company’s primary assets operate at peak efficiency, meeting production targets while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
  • Lifecycle Management: Oversee asset development from exploration through production to decommissioning, implementing strategic planning and risk management at each stage.
  • Operational Coordination: Collaborate with field operations teams to monitor asset performance, enhance production processes, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Financial & Budgetary Oversight: Develop and manage asset budgets, track performance metrics (KPIs), and conduct financial analyses to optimize investment returns.
  • Strategic Planning & Portfolio Management: Partner with senior management to refine asset portfolio strategies, identifying potential acquisitions, divestitures, and efficiency improvement opportunities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain effective communication and collaboration with joint venture partners, regulatory authorities, and internal departments, including finance, legal, and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) teams.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial, operational, and environmental risks to safeguard asset performance and long-term profitability.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, Geosciences, or a closely related field. A Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in asset management within the oil and gas industry, particularly in upstream operations.
  • In-depth understanding of oil and gas exploration, development, and production processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and drive operational excellence.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, data analytics, and the use of industry-specific software (e.g., reservoir simulation tools and asset management platforms).
