Applications are currently open for the 2025 Australia Awards Scholarships, prestigious international awards provided by the Australian Government to emerging leaders from developing countries. These scholarships aim to foster global leadership by supporting recipients in their pursuit of higher education, enabling them to contribute to positive change and establish lasting connections with Australia. Evaluation criteria include professional and personal attributes, academic proficiency, and the potential to address development challenges in eligible countries. The application process actively encourages submissions from underrepresented groups, including women, individuals with disabilities, and marginalized communities.

For this application round, eligible African countries are particularly encouraged to focus on priority fields of study, including Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security, Mining and Energy, Foreign Policy and International Security, as well as Gender, Disability, and Social Inclusion.

Australia Awards scholarships offer citizens of eligible African countries the opportunity to pursue a Master’s qualification at an Australian tertiary institution, with the awards slated for commencement in 2025. In addition to general eligibility requirements, candidates from eligible African countries must meet specific conditions, such as being at least 25 years old by February 1, 2025, having a minimum of 5 years of post-graduate work experience related to their field of study, and holding citizenship in specified African countries.

Applicants must not currently hold or be enrolled in a Master’s degree or equivalent, possess an undergraduate degree equivalent to an Australian undergraduate degree, and have not previously received a long-term Australia Award.
