Empowering Women in Global Trade: Call for Applications – WEIDE Fund 2025
The Women Exporters in the Digital Economy (WEIDE) Fund, a joint initiative of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the International Trade Centre (ITC), was established in February 2024 with a bold vision: to accelerate the growth of women-led enterprises by enhancing their access to international markets and digital trade platforms.
This transformative fund, with a substantial budget of USD 50 million, is designed to break down the systemic barriers that prevent women entrepreneurs from scaling their businesses globally. Through a combination of funding, skills development, and strategic partnerships, WEIDE is committed to building a more inclusive global trading environment.
What the WEIDE Fund Offers
The fund provides a comprehensive support package focused on four critical areas:
- Enhanced Access to Business Ecosystems and Networks
Women entrepreneurs will benefit from stronger integration into dynamic business networks and support systems. The initiative seeks to build inclusive ecosystems by engaging both public institutions and private sector actors to offer mentorship, exposure, and collaboration opportunities. - Financial Support to Bridge the Gender Finance Gap
Recognizing the challenges many women-led businesses face in securing financing, the WEIDE Fund will facilitate access to grants and financial backing from partnered institutions, helping entrepreneurs overcome funding limitations and scale their ventures. - Digital Capacity Building and Export Readiness Training
Tailored technical assistance and hands-on training will be provided, focusing on developing digital skills, improving business competitiveness, and preparing enterprises to thrive in export markets. - Market Access via Digital Platforms
A central goal of the fund is to connect women-led businesses to global consumers through digital marketplaces, expanding their visibility and participation in cross-border e-commerce.
