The World Health Organization (WHO) Internship Program offers diverse opportunities for students and recent graduates to gain practical experience and understanding of WHO’s technical and administrative operations. This program helps participants expand their expertise in various fields, thereby supporting the progress of global public health.
WHO offers internships in technical fields as well as administrative areas, including communication, external relations, and human resources. Eligibility Criteria
- Must be at least 20 years old on the date of application.
- Must be currently enrolled in a degree program (undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate) at a university or equivalent institution in public health, medicine, social science, or fields related to WHO’s technical work, or in management, communications, external relations, or administrative areas. Graduates who have completed their studies within the last six months may also apply.
- Must have completed at least three years of full-time university study (equivalent to a bachelor’s degree) before starting the internship.
- Proficiency in at least one of the official working languages of the designated WHO office.
- Must not have any immediate family ties to a WHO staff member (such as parents, siblings, or children).
- Must hold a valid passport from a WHO Member State.
- Must not have previously participated in the WHO Internship Program.
Benefits Interns are provided with medical and accident insurance during the internship. However, any insurance coverage required before or after the internship, including travel, is the responsibility of the intern. Some duty stations may also offer lunch vouchers.
