TechWomen 2025 Application Information
The application for the 2025 TechWomen program is now open and will close on January 7, 2025, at 9:00 AM PST (GMT-08:00). Applicants will be informed of their application status (non-selected or semifinalist) no later than April 30, 2025. Final selections will be announced by May 31, 2025, with all applicants receiving notification of the outcome.
Selection Process
Participants for the TechWomen program are chosen based on the criteria outlined below. Independent selection panels consisting of industry experts and regional specialists evaluate the applications. In some cases, semifinalists may be required to attend an interview conducted by U.S. Embassy representatives in their country of residence.
TechWomen Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the TechWomen program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Professional Experience:
A minimum of two years of full-time professional experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields at the time of application.
Internships or unpaid work do not count toward the required professional experience.
Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent four-year university degree) is required.
Language Proficiency:
Applicants must demonstrate fluency in both written and spoken English.
Citizenship and Residency:
Must be a citizen and permanent resident of one of the following countries: Albania, Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, or Zimbabwe.
Visa Eligibility:
Must be eligible for a U.S. J-1 exchange visitor visa.
Should not have applied for a U.S. immigrant visa (excluding the Diversity Visa Lottery) in the past five years.
Cannot hold U.S. citizenship or permanent residency status.
Selection Preferences
Preference will be given to applicants who meet the following additional criteria:
Residing and working in a TechWomen program country at the time of application and during program participation. Special consideration is given to those displaced from their home country.
Demonstrate emerging leadership in their chosen field through professional achievements, community involvement, and educational background.
Commit to returning to their home country to share knowledge, mentor others, and contribute to local communities.
Have limited or no prior exposure to the United States.
Possess a strong history of voluntary or public service within their communities.
Show a proven entrepreneurial mindset and dedication to innovation.
Are open to mentorship opportunities, collaboration, and developing new partnerships, while exhibiting confidence and maturity.
