Each year, the Prince Claus Fund recognizes 100 up-and-coming artists with the Seed Award, aimed at supporting those working in environments where cultural expression faces challenges. This award provides an opportunity for these creatives to strengthen their practices and inspire transformative change within their communities.
Awardees receive a grant of €5,000 (approximately $5,260), which they can use to further their artistic and cultural pursuits as they see fit. The Seed Award operates on a trust-based model, allowing recipients to allocate the funding in ways that best suit their needs—whether that’s acquiring materials, fostering new collaborations, exploring fresh ideas, or simply dedicating time to their work free from financial stress.
The Seed Award is designed for emerging talents in the arts and culture sector who use their work to address significant social and political issues. It seeks to support individuals who are innovative, inclusive, and impactful in their approaches, with a clear commitment to improving their communities and environments through creative expression.
