This initiative is designed to inspire groundbreaking ideas in food production, innovation, and engineering, focusing on their potential to contribute to a sustainable food system in Nigeria.

About the FMN Prize for Innovation

The FMN Prize for Innovation aims to spotlight critical aspects of Nigeria’s food value chain each year, promoting solutions that can drive the transformation and sustainable development of the nation’s food systems.

Focus of the Maiden Edition

The inaugural edition of the FMN Prize for Innovation centers on addressing the challenges of food loss and wastage within Nigeria’s food production processes. This edition encourages participants to present innovative and technology-driven solutions that can significantly minimize waste while optimizing food production.

Competition Categories and Eligibility

The competition is divided into two distinct categories:

Category 1:

  • Open to registered Nigerian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) operating within the food and agro-allied sector.
  • Designed to foster business-driven solutions that enhance efficiency and sustainability in food production and processing.

Category 2:

  • Open to Nigerian students (undergraduate and postgraduate levels) with innovative ideas focused on revolutionizing livestock farming in Nigeria.
  • Participants are encouraged to propose fresh, impactful concepts aimed at addressing current challenges and improving productivity in the livestock sector.
