Responsibilities:

Promote critical thinking, innovative strategies, and effective practices to support sustainable education initiatives. Provide technical advisory services and advocate for educational improvement. Stay informed on emerging trends and best practices in education management and information systems. Ensure the institutionalization and dissemination of these insights for continuous improvement.

Additionally, contribute to the development of policies and procedures, promoting innovation and the application of best practices to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of programs. Organize capacity-building initiatives to strengthen the skills of stakeholders and ensure sustainable results in education-related projects.

Minimum Requirements:
Education: An advanced degree in education, or related fields such as economics, psychology, sociology, or other social sciences.
Experience: A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in education program planning, management, and/or research at the international level, with some experience in developing countries. Experience with a UN agency or organization is preferred. Familiarity with emergency response is an asset.
Language: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an added advantage.
Desired Skills:
Strong understanding of global development challenges such as poverty and conflict, and how these issues intersect with education. Ability to work on inter-sectoral approaches involving other sectors like Social Policy, Child Protection, Nutrition, WASH, Health, and Communications.
In-depth knowledge of global trends in education and strategies for international engagement, including the application of equity and human rights perspectives in educational programs.
Proven ability to facilitate policy discussions and translate analytical data into actionable development programs related to equity and learning outcomes.
Expertise in education sector analysis, including the ability to interpret key educational data, indicators, and tools for understanding equity and access issues.
Proficiency in planning education sector activities, including analyzing delivery modalities, institutional structures, governance, and financing.
Ability to engage and work collaboratively with partners such as the Global Partnership for Education, Education in Emergencies Clusters, and other key education stakeholders.
A solid understanding of gender equity issues in education and the ability to apply gender analysis to policy development and strategic planning.
Familiarity with resilience-related policies and strategies, including risk management, education in conflict zones, and recovery efforts in post-disaster or post-conflict settings.
