NDDC scholarship program overseas study grant 2023/2024

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) provides scholarship opportunities for Nigerian students hailing from the Niger Delta region who wish to pursue Master’s and PhD degrees overseas.

In line with our commitment to fostering human resource development, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is initiating the 2023 Post-Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program. This program aims to equip individuals from the Niger Delta with the essential training and skills needed for effective engagement in the Federal Government’s Local Content initiative and to compete globally in diverse professional domains.

The NDDC is unwavering in its mission to facilitate sustainable development in the Niger Delta, striving for economic prosperity, social stability, ecological regeneration, and political harmony within the region. Requirements:

  • A first-degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division for Master’s Degree applicants and a strong Master’s Degree for PhD candidates from a recognized university.
  • Admission into a Post Graduate Program at a foreign university in one of the specified disciplines.
  • Applicants already enrolled in overseas universities are not eligible.
  • A written consent of good conduct from a guarantor within the applicant’s community/clan, such as a Member of the National Assembly/State House of Assembly, Chairman of the LGA, First Class Traditional Ruler, or High Court Judge.
  • Applicants with evidence of cult membership or a criminal record will not be considered.
  • Completion of the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC).
  • Indigene of one of the following Niger Delta states in Nigeria: Akwa Ibom State, Bayelsa State, Cross River State, Delta State, Edo State, and Rivers State.

Rigorous Selection Process: Candidates will undergo a thorough selection process, including initial shortlisting, a computer-based test in Rivers State, and final verification through respective Local Government Areas and Community Development Committees. The scholarship amount will be determined based on the prevailing exchange rate of the Naira.

  • Local Government Identification Letter
  • Postgraduate admission letter from a recognized overseas university
  • Relevant degrees from recognized universities
  • NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate

Method of Application: Interested applicants should complete their applications online on the Commission’s website at www.nddc.gov.ng, including all necessary documents. A registration number will be assigned automatically upon successful completion of the application. Applicants should also print a hard copy of the online-generated acknowledgment for reference. Shortlisted candidates will be posted on the NDDC website at www.nddc.gov.ng.
